Why is Engineering Important?

In an increasingly technologically connected world, engineering could not be more important than ever. Thousands of jobs are being added every year, and the field only continues to grow. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment is expected to grow as much as 6% from 2020 to 2030.

Engineering brings together many disciplines, from science and mathematics to design and technology. From the workings of your phone to the design of buildings around you, engineering is behind so much around us. Engineering covers a wide variety of fields, including aerospace, computer, biomedical, industrial, and civil engineering.

Engineers are the ones that explore space, perform cutting-edge research into medicine and disease, and design the most optimal infrastructure. Throughout recent history, engineers have played a big role. They were the ones who designed cures to many disease outbreaks, and they were the ones who brought mankind into space.

Engineers continue to bring us into places never imagined before by humans. The future of our world lies in the hands of engineers. Future innovations and discoveries will likely come from the help and research of engineers. As a very promising field that only continues to grow, engineering will only increase in importance.
