What is it like to be an engineer
Updated: Apr 13, 2022
Engineers are people who use scientific knowledge to design, construct, and maintain machines or structures such as roads, railways, and bridges. They are the “architects” of the world. Engineers usually are really good at finding patterns and problem-solving. Besides, they are very detail-oriented and creative.

A misconception of engineering is that engineering is boring since it is full of [2]repetitiveness and uniformity. This is a completely wrong perception of engineering. Period. Engineering involves a lifetime of adapting and learning to changes in the society and the natural world. We are constantly pushing technology to the limits and achieving the “impossible”.
One engineer that made a big impact in our technology is Alan Turing. [3]He developed the idea for the Universal Turing Machine, the basis for the first computer. And he developed a test for artificial intelligence in 1950, which is still used today. Even though Alan is known for his skills in computer science, he was actually an Olympic-level runner. The way he balance his life is absolutely mind-blowing.
All in all, there are many things to explore within engineering as it incorporates many different areas of science and math. I can guarantee you that will have so much fun digging into different topics in engineering.
